Version 5.6 is bringing new characters to the spotlight in Genshin Impact, and one of the most anticipated (and curious) four-stars is Ifa—an Anemo catalyst user who enters the battlefield with a literal gun and a floating Qucusaurus sidekick. In his latest video, Zajef Daily dives deep into Ifa’s kit, analyzing his numbers, viability, team potential, and what kind of niche he might fill in the current meta.
Let’s break down what makes Ifa interesting—and whether he’s actually good.
Ifa’s Kit Overview: Supportive Healer or Anemo DPS?
Ifa’s Elemental Skill calls in his assistant Kakuku and puts him in the Night Soul’s Blessing state. In this mode, Ifa hovers in the air and changes how his normal attacks function—either firing supporting rounds (tap) or triggering a plunge attack (hold). While stylish, the numbers on his healing are extremely underwhelming.
Zajef estimates that his flat healing, when scaled with Elemental Mastery (EM), amounts to only around 300-400 per tick, which is comparable to Yansan and definitely not strong enough for HP-scaling characters like Furina. However, it’s just enough to counteract Furina’s self-damage for non-HP scalers like Ororon.
His Elemental Burst, “Therapeutic Sedative,” deals AoE Anemo damage and creates a wind current that pulls enemies and objects. If enemies are affected by Hydro, Pyro, Cryo, or Electro, a “Sedation Mark” is applied and explodes after a short delay, dealing elemental damage based on the debuffed type.
Ifa’s Real Potential: Taser and Swirl Support
Despite his mediocre healing, Ifa gains utility through team-wide synergy. When in Night Soul’s Blessing state, Ifa gets stacks based on the total Night Soul Points in your party. Each stack increases Swirl and Electro-Charged damage by a small percentage—adding up to about 180% extra multiplier, which is solid for Taser comps.
Zajef compares this to older units like Heizou or Sayu and concludes that Ifa outperforms characters like Glor, who are too reliant on conditional healing that often doesn’t work. Ifa provides better uptime and doesn’t need complex setups, making him a viable alternative to Sucrose in taser teams.
But is he a Sucrose replacement? Not quite. While he does offer grouping and Swirl, he lacks high EM buffs or a consistent VV uptime, which are critical in elemental reaction teams. His healing also isn’t consistent enough for full sustain builds. Still, for newer players or those lacking stronger Anemo units, Ifa provides a lot of value.
Can Ifa Work in Xiao or Quick-Swap Teams?
Zajef explores the idea of running Ifa in Xiao teams or quick-swap comps, but quickly dismisses the idea after realizing that Ifa’s healing only applies while he is on-field. Since Xiao needs fast swaps and Ifa’s healing requires field time, they aren’t compatible.
That said, Ifa’s grouping potential from his burst makes him interesting for general crowd control, especially if he gets internal mechanics like 50% bonus burst shots, as seen in the leaked kit.
Ifa as an Anemo DPS?
Zajef briefly considers building Ifa as a main Anemo DPS, stacking Crit Rate, Crit DMG, and ATK% on weapons like The Widsith. Unfortunately, his motion values don’t hold up. Even in a theoretical DPS build with Ferrous, Furina, and Noblesse buffs, his damage barely breaks 20k per second, making him a bad option for main DPS.
While his animations look stylish, Ifa clearly wasn’t designed for damage output, and his low base attack further solidifies his role as a utility support at best.
Final Verdict: A Sidegrade Support with Potential
So, is Ifa worth pulling or building?
✅ Good For:
- F2P or low-investment accounts that lack Sucrose
- Taser teams needing small healing and swirl
- Freeze or Electro-charged comps where buffs stack over time
- Fun/flex picks with unique animations
❌ Not Recommended For:
- Healing-intensive teams
- Main DPS roles
- Quick-swap or Xiao-focused comps
- Players who already have Sucrose, Lynette, or Heizou
Zajef concludes that Ifa is not a meta-defining unit, but he’s far from useless. In specific double Anemo setups or paired with Furina, he can fill a useful support role. His healing is modest, but just enough to patch over Furina’s passive. His swirl damage is decent with proper setup, and his gun-style animations are fun to watch.
Should You Pull for Ifa?
If you’re a collector, fan of quirky units, or need a flexible Anemo support—Ifa is a fine pickup. But if you’re saving Primogems for heavy hitters like Skirk or upcoming reruns, he’s not essential.
He’s a classic “jack-of-some-trades, master of none” character.
