In Genshin Impact Version 5.6, a curious experiment took place: Xilonen was tested using Deepwood Memories, a popular Dendro artifact set. But despite the idea sounding intriguing on paper, the reality proved far less promising.
In short? Deepwood Xilonen doesn’t hold up, and the results showed why.
🌿 Deepwood Xilonen: Good in Theory, Bad in Practice
The core idea behind Deepwood Xilonen was simple:
- Equip her with Deepwood Memories to allow her to shred Dendro resistance.
- Let her buff a Dendro DPS character’s damage — even though Xilonen herself isn’t a Dendro user.
But Red Warrior’s testing revealed some important truths:
- Despite wielding Deepwood, Xilonen offers no off-field damage.
- Against real Abyss enemies, the lack of any consistent damage contribution heavily limits her value.
- Even when directly compared against characters like Emilie, who can actively deal off-field Dendro damage, Xilonen falls short.
⚔️ Test Results: Xilonen vs Emilie
When testing Xilonen and Emilie under similar setups:
- Xilonen’s Deepwood setup hit around 330,000 at best.
- Swapping Deepwood to Emilie instantly boosted team damage to 370,000–400,000.
Even more confusing? Despite using nearly identical buffs and team setups, Emilie’s team still out-damaged Xilonen’s, even without any special buffs from Deepwood resonance. Red Warrior openly admitted he couldn’t figure out why Emilie’s setup performed better numerically — but it didn’t matter. The evidence was clear: Emilies off-field damage output gave her a huge edge.
Worse yet, if you instantly defeat an enemy with Xilonen, her Deepwood effect disappears — she offers zero persistent impact once her skill is gone. Meanwhile, Emilie can continuously proc Deepwood through her persistent off-field Dendro application.
❌ Why Xilonen Can’t Compete
Ultimately, there are several reasons why Xilonen isn’t fit to wear Deepwood Memories:
- No Off-Field Presence: If enemies die quickly, Xilonen does nothing.
- Limited Shred Value: Deepwood can be maintained by characters with better uptime and DPS.
- Wasted Potential: Running Xilonen on Deepwood sacrifices an actual damage dealer for a mediocre support effect.
- No Versatility: She’s locked into niche team compositions without significant synergy.
While it’s fun to experiment and meme around with different builds, there’s no serious reason to slot Deepwood on Xilonen when other characters like Emilie, Baizhu, or even Yaoyao offer stronger utility and damage.
🔥 Final Verdict: Don’t Force Xilonen Into Roles She’s Not Built For
Even the most optimistic readings of the data suggest Xilonen is outclassed:
- Deepwood is better used on an active Dendro applicator.
- Emilie and others can maximize Deepwood uptime while also dealing substantial damage.
- Simply put, Xilonen lacks the consistent impact needed to function as a valuable Deepwood holder.
While it’s always interesting to test fringe builds and unexpected combos, Deepwood Xilonen is a failed experiment. Red Warrior concluded that, as fun as it might be to imagine her carrying a team with Deepwood Memories, the reality is that players are better off investing in more capable units.
